Iron Idiom
Heavy industry meets elegant design.Our studio and shop are located in the Georgetown neighborhood in Seattle Washington, in the newly renovated Equinox Studios. Our original iron designs have been said to have a "unique edge", a quality created from the collaboration of two minds and thoughts that are as diverse as can be; big and bold vs. small and intricate. Mild steel plate is cut and transformed into strong but graceful gates, birdbaths, plant stands, arbors, and furniture for homes, businesses, and gardens.
Steve and Sherry Hussey
We met in 1996, and the collaboration of life and art began. Steve with a background in steel that has spanned 30 years, and Sherry with an artistic background which includes graphic design, jewelry design, and lampwork glass. We strive to meld both worlds together to create original artistic ironwork.Our Process
Our designs are drafted using pencil and paper. Our fabrication process uses an oxy/propane torch, mounted on a machine, with an electric eye pantograph. Every cut is done by hand. there is no computer involved.
